But once the action gets underway, bright primary colors shake things up, letting the barrage of guns and explosives blow off some steam. Colorist Jordie Bellaire douses the background in muted colors to create a post-apocalyptic ambiance throughout the book. Panels of different shapes and sizes follow bloodshot every step of the way, filling details in bold outlines and adding to the volume. The first thing that artist Jon Davis-Hunt does is shed light on Bloodshot's home inside an inhospitable atmosphere, mimicking Bloodshot's own mindscape of tiny specks of happy recollections amongst a tomb of dreadful memories. Bloodshot Unleashed #1 is written by Camp, illustrated by Davis-Hunt, colored by Jordie Bellaire and lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.What is an adults-only title without spectacular depictions of gore and gut-spilling violence? Bloodshot’s journey will now take him even further into darkness, as he confronts the legacy of Project: Rising Spirit–and learns there was much more to them than he ever thought. After breaking with his masters in Rising Spirit, Bloodshot has worked freelance, traveling through the violent underbelly of the Valiant Universe, on a quest to restore his humanity–assuming he has any left.
Thanks to an infusion of nanites in his blood, Bloodshot has enhanced strength and reflexes, in addition to being virtually indestructible. In the Valiant Universe, Bloodshot was created by Project: Rising Spirit, a weapons contractor, and sent on hazardous missions.
